Its major attractions include the ruins of Indus Valley Civilization, the oldest mountain range- Aravalli, a Jain pilgrimage site known as Dilwara Temples, Karni Mata Mandir, the only hill station of Rajasthan- Mount Abu, Keoladeo National Park (formerly known as Bharatpur National Park, the Ranthambore National Park and the Sariska Tiger Reserve

Some of its major architectural wonders include Chittorgarh fort – the largest fort in Asia, Mehrangarh Fort at Jodhpur, Jaipur “The Pink City” houses a number of well known tourists spots which include Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), Lake Palace, City Palace, Amber Palace, Jantar Mantar, Umaid Bhawan in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer Fort in Jaisalmer and many more.

Geography

Rajasthan Geography Thar Desert and Aravali Ranges is the main geographic feature of Geography Rajasthan. Thar Desert located in northwest region of Rajasthan which extends across the border into Pakistan and Aravli hill in southeast region. The Aravali range does not intercept the moisture giving southwest monsoon winds of the Arabian Sea, as it lies in a direction parallel to that coming monsoon winds, leaving northwest region in a rain shadow. The temperatures in Rajasthan exceed 45°c in summer months and drop below the freezing in the winter.

Wildlife

Rajasthan is also famous for wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. There are four National parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in Rajasthan. The named; Koeldeo National Park (Bharatpur Bird Sanctury) in Bharatpur district, Sariska Tiger Reserve Park in Alwar district, Ranthambore Naitonal Park in Sawai Madhopur district and Desert National Park in Jaisalmer.

Sariska Tiger Reserve Park and Ranthambore National Park are famous worldwide for their Tiger and considered by both Wildlife lovers and Photographers as the finest places in India for spot Tigers. Beside it Rajasthan is also keeps several small Wildlife Sanctuaries and Eco – Tourism Parks. Prominent among them are Mount Abu Sanctuary, Bhensrod Garh Sanctuary, Darrah Sanctuary, Jaisamand Sanctuary, Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sancturay, Jawahar Sagar Sanctuary and Sita Mata Wildlife Sanctuary.

Culture

The culture of Rajasthan is very rich and has artistic and cultural traditions which show the ancient way of life in India. The highly refined classical music and dance with its own well-defined style is part of the cultural tradition of Rajasthan.

The Ghoomar dance and Kalbeliya dance of Rajasthan, obtained Global identification. Folk music is an important part of Rajasthani culture. Folk songs are commonly songs which related heroic deeds and love stories. Religious and devotional songs are also sung.

Rajasthan also known for traditional colorful art and Handicraft items. Rajasthani traditional clothes reflecting the colorful Rajasthani culture, which have lot of mirror work and embroidery. Rajasthani dresses are usually designed in bright colors like blue, yellow and oranges.

Tourism

Rajasthan Tourism is famous for the magnificent Forts, intricately carved Temples and Havelis, which were built by Rajput Kings. The Palaces of Jaipur, Lakes of Udaipur and Desert Forts of Jodhpur, Bikaner & Jaisalmer are the most preferred destination in Rajasthan. During 2009-2010, Rajasthan attracted more than 14% of total foreign tourists.
